Thumbnail shortcode lightboxes already display image attachment titles. Could you let me know which element you’re refering to.
Lightbox HTML are as follows
<a title="the title" rel="prettyPhoto" href="big-image-path"><img src="thumnail-image-path" / ></a>
Title is inside the a href.
