The manual image inserts don’t have the thumbnails classes. So it doesn’t carry any styles. You’ll need to edit style.css and add CSS styles for them. This change can add border and padding to all image elements inside an image, including over-riding some element styles. I’d recommend contacting a WP developer on this. This will require a custom class added to any elements you require borders and padding styles – the method will isolate others.
